Concept to Prototype

Want to know how we got here? It all started with a problem. While on a road trip my daughter was trying to sleep in the back seat. She was bobbing her head uncomfortably, and I wanted to place a tether on her head, but I was worried it could slip down to her neck and make it difficult to breath. That’s when it hit me; why not attach it to a hat for safety and comfort? So I drew a quick concept sketch.

With a design in mind I made some Prototypes. Here’s a video where I was working on the original prototype out of some off the shelf parts. You can follow my progress on YouTube to see what I am working on.

Finally, after waiting a few months, I got our first production prototype! This was made with the same machines and tools as the final hat will be made with. Minor changes can still be made, but this is close to the final design for production. I already communicated some changes and am waiting for the next prototype.
